Michigan Muslims Urge Comcast to Move Bridges TV to Basic Line-up
April 20 2006 - 3:15PM
PR Newswire (US)
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- An historic FBI
Town Hall Meeting with Arab and Muslim Americans will be televised
nationwide on May 15th at 8pm ET / 9pm PT on Bridges TV. Bridges TV
is available as a free channel on Wow Cable & Internet and
GlobeCast Satellite. However, Comcast Cable, the nation's largest
cable provider, charges customers an extra $180 a year to watch
Bridges TV. "We are deeply saddened by such excessive overpricing
by Comcast Cable. There is an urgent need for better coverage of
Arab and Muslim American issues in the media. Offering Bridges TV
as a free basic channel for all Americans will create a better
future for our children and a safer America," said Dr. Mohammad
Bazzi, Chairman of the Islamic House of Wisdom, an Islamic center
located in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Bazzi urges American Muslims
to contact Comcast Cable regardless of who their TV provider is.
Linda Winters of Comcast Cable can be reached at 888-COMCAST. A
complaint form is available at http://www.protectmi.com/. "Please
ask Comcast Cable to make Bridges TV a FREE basic channel. This
will allow all Americans to gain a better understanding of Muslim
and Arab Americans," added Dr. Bazzi. Contact: Dr. Mohammad Bazzi
